John Morgal came to America from Mirna Pic, Dolensko, Jugoslavia August 15, 1890. He settled in Ely, Min¬nesota, and worked in the iron mines.

Katarina Bukovec was born in Doblica, Crnomelj Dolensko, Jugoslavia. She came to America, to Ely, Min¬nesota April 1, 1898. She was united in marriage at the age of 16 years to John Morgal June 17, 1898.

After Katerina's many boarders and four children, lots of hardships etc., John decided no more mine work or other kind. He wanted to farm so off he went looking.

He found a God Forsaken spot with nothing but thick woods but he stayed jnd cleared a spot enough to put up a small log cabin. This place was called Gorman.

Then the family came out, this was really roughing it. It was a struggle for a long time, hard work and raising a family of seven by this time. A son John, third child, died at the age of 14 months, in Ely, Minnesota. The children were Marie, Jennie, John, Josephine, Amelia, Roseline and Joe. Josephine passed away in 1951 and Joe passed away in 1971.

Marie, Jennie and Amelia reside in Waukegan, Illinois. Roseline lives in California. John passed away August 10, 1947, Katherine passed away February 19, 1966. After John's death Katherine lived alone for a couple of years in Willard. Then her daughter Amelia and son-in-law Stanley took her in and she lived with them for 14 years in Waukegan, Illinois until she passed away.
