Anton Panyan came from Crnomel, Draga Tus, Slovenia in approximately 1909 and settled in Calumet, Michigan. There he met and married Antonia Papesh. Antonia's father came to Calumet from Lahovce, Slovenia. Antonia was born and raised in Calumet. They had a son Joe and in approximately 1914 moved to Willard.

Also going to Willard at the same time was Antonia's sister, Stephanie Bogdonovich. After leaving Willard, the Panyan family came to Duluth, Minnesota where four more sons were born: Rudy, John, Bob and Ed.

Anton passed away in 1951, son Rudy passed away in 1968, and the four surviving sons live in Duluth. Antonia is 84 years old and now resides at a rest home in Duluth.
