Father Ludwig Perushek was born in 1880 in Sodrazica, Jugoslavia. He had three
brothers; John, Louis and Rudolph, and one sister, Mary. Mother Paula Stupica
was also born in Sodrozica. She had four brothers; Frank, Leopold, Charles and
Joseph, and two sisters; Mary and Angela. Joseph was a priest and became a
Monsignor.
About the year of 1905 Mr. Perushek came to the United States, to Cleveland and
Barberton, Ohio. Later on he settled in Ely, Minnesota where he worked in the
iron mines. In 1906 he was married to Paula Stupica in St. Anthony's church in
Ely, by Monsignor Joseph Buh.
Ten children were born to this union. One died in in¬fancy and one at the age of
twelve. The remaining children are; Ludwig Jr., Mary, Pauline, Frank, Angeline,
Charles, Anne and Tony. In the year 1919 the family moved to Tioga, Wisconsin,
and were early pioneer settlers.
They belonged to the Holy Family Parish of Willard in which they were very
active in all parish organizations. Mr. Perushek held the office of Secretary of
the K.S.K.J. Lodge No. 136 for over 25 years. During that time he was very
instrumental in bringing many new members into the Lodge and into the Church. He
was a zealous worker and promoter in all parish activities, a very capable
organizer of parish clubs and various groups.
Theirs was a truly Christian family and home, with an excellent example of truly
Christian living. They were neighborly to the neighbors and to all with whom
they came into contact, always willing and ready to help others.
In later years they acquired more land and had a large typical 'Wisconsin Dairy
Farm'. As the children grew older and finished grade school they were a
wonderful help to their parents with the farm work until they left for the city
to find employment.
Father Ludwig Perushek died in the year of 1964 and Mother died in the year of
1952.
