Thomas Pozega was born in Slunj, Croatia, Jugoslavia in 1878. His wife, Anna
Sumson, was also born in Slunj, Croatia in 1881. Thomas came to America in the
early 1900's. He worked in the mines in Pennsylvania. He sent for Anna and they
were married in 1908 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
They migrated to Colorado where he was employed in the mines. Mary was born in
Colorado. From there they migrated to Utah where he worked in the salt mines.
Helen and Margaret were born in Salt Lake, Utah.
In 1916 they migrated to Wisconsin with a family by the name of Sterling. They
arrived in Willard and stayed in a hotel which is now known as Suda's Store. The
Sterlings bought a farm that was later bought by Frank Francel when the
Sterlings migrated to Pennsylvania.
The Pozega's bought a 120 acre farm in the town of Hendren where Ann, John,
Thomas Jr., Christine, Frank and Frances (twins), and Lillian were born. They
all attended the Blackberry School. Frank now runs the farm, with 80 acres
across the road added to it, with his wife Dorothy and family. Frances married
Joe Petkovsek in 1948 and they live on Route 3, Marshfield. Thomas Sr. passed
away in October of 1957. Anna, his wife, passed away March 1960.
