Joseph and Josephine Prestor came to Chicago about the year 1905-1906. They were
married in Jugoslavia and their first two children, Louise and Joseph Jr. were
born there.
Joseph arrived first and worked in Illinois in the co*l mines. He sent for his
wife and enroute to the United States with her two children they were
shipwrecked and lost all their possessions. They were rescued by another ship.
While living in Illinois they heard of a land grant. They came to Willard with
their two oldest children and also Marie, Josephine and Ann. They purchased 40
acres with a stipulation attached to the grant - building a home, clearing the
land and growing crops. While in Willard children Christine, John and Angie were
born.
They sold their farm to Zupanc who had it for many years, selling it to John Fox
who owns it now. Joseph Sr. died in 1955 and Josephine his wife in 1956
