Matthew Romosh came from Europe in 1901. He was born in 1873 and lived in Skofja
Loka Jugoslavia. Jennie Dolence came from Europe in 1902. She was born in 1881
and lived in Skofja Loka Jugoslavia.
They both came here by boat to New York. From there they took a train and went
to Rock Springs, Wyoming. Matt and Jennie each had a brother there. They met in
Rock Springs and were married there in 1903.
Matt worked in the coal mines, they bought a big home and Jennie took in
boarders. They had four children, Mary, Frank, Jennie, and Frances.
In 1910 they bought 80 acres of land from a real estate agent - Ignac Cesnik in
Willard and moved. Later they bought another 40 acres from Lucas Miclancic. The
land was a wild 120 acres. They lived in Willard until 1922 and then sold their
personal property and moved to Milwaukee.
When the family moved to Milwaukee, Matt worked for the railroad company. Frank
went to mechanics school. Later when they returned to the farm he had a garage
and did repair work for all the neighbors. Mary and Jennie worked in a factory.
Frances worked at Nor¬thwestern Manufacturing Company taping coils. Mrs. Romosh
took in boarders. Everyone saved their money and when they returned to Willard
in 1928 they had sav¬ed enough money to build a barn and house which are still
on the farm now owned by Ignac Gabrovic.
Matt passed away in 1945 and Jennie in 1962. Son Frank is deceased. Two
daughters, Mary and Frances were married in May of 1928. They both eloped and
went to Waukegan, Illinois. Mary married Joseph Plautz and Frances married Frank
Luzovec. Mary passed away in j, 1979. Frances passed away in 1981.
Jennie was married in 1930 to Martin Kirn. All three of the sisters lived next
to each other. Jennie resides in Neillsville.
