Frank Schwab was born in the village of Viselnica parish of Zgornje Gora near
Radovljici, area of Goremskem.
He came to America in 1906, first coming to Chicago, where he worked for many
years. Later he came to Willard, purchased a farm about 2 1/2 miles north of
town, and started to improve it.
As a side line he had a bakery shop just on the edge of town, now the Lamovec
place. He also cooked for Weddings in the area. He baked and decorated beautiful
wedding cakes. He was a very meticulous person.
I, Ann (Trunkel) Snedic was his assistant. He always used to say "This is the
way it has to be, either you make something good or not at all", and that's how
it had to be. "You have to season the food to bring out the aroma." Frank and I
cooked for many weddings. I always enjoyed working with Mr. Schwab.
The girls that worked with Frank at the weddings had to wear white caps, dress
and aprons. He had the patterns and we had to sew our own. He prepared very good
chicken stew (amojht) for his help.
Frank sold his farm to Frank and Mary Mihalovich and moved back to Chicago.
