Joe Slemec was born in Ljubljana and came to America first settling in Montana.
From there he came to Willard where he first bought 40 acres which he later sold
to Frank Klancher.
Frances Fortuna and Joe were married in Willard on May 22 ,1918 in Holy Family
Church. Their older children were born on the first farm. Later they bought 40
acres from Anton Fortuna.
The present family farm consists of 300 acres which is being farmed by Rudy,
Valentine and Tony. Josephine (Mrs. Lawrence Drescher) lives in Neillsville.
Olga is deceased. Eddie lives in Milwaukee. Bobby and Jimmy live in Neillsville.
