John Trunkel Sr., father of Anton and John Trunkel, Great Grampa to the Willard
Trunkels, came to America in the very early part of the 20th century. He settled
in Morris, Illinois and also in Marseilles, Illinois.
When his son Anton was building his house and barn he would come out to Willard
for several months and then go back to Morris, Illinois. He also helped with the
logging. When he got back to Morris he would stay with his son John. As the
years went by the younger John Trunkel purchased some land in the Willard
country and started farming. Then the younger John wrote to his father and asked
him to come to Willard, so this he did and he made his home with young John
until he passed away.
