Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage (19th Amendment – 26 August 2020)

Last Wednesday, as the U.S. hit the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, several people took to the gazebo in downtown Neillsville to ring bells in honor of the day. Those ringing bells included Chris Keller, Linda Hemp, Jerry Lueck, Chris Wachtendonk and Mina Ozturk. Some local churches also rang bells to celebrate the occasion. Bell-ringing was what those who celebrated the amendment passage id to honor the new era in U.S. History in 1920. The gazebo was dressed up with numerous flags as well.
