Genteman, Louise A. (25 DEC 1929 – 25 AUG 2020)
Louise A. Genteman, 90, Loyal, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, at House
of the Dove in Marshfield, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services
were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in
Loyal. Rev. Leo Johnson officiated, and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were Craig Genteman, Ryan Wienke, Michael Rindfleisch, Ethan
Genteman, Adam Yerke, and Lindsey Genteman.
Louise Ann Mayer was born on Dec. 25, 1929, at home on her parents’ farm in
Humbird, the daughter of Anton “Tony” and Georgia A. (nee Gilles) Mayer. She was
raised and received her education in Humbird, graduating from Humbird High
School in 1947. After graduation, Louise worked in Eau Claire, first at Presto
Industries, and then later at Sacred Heart Hospital. She met the love of her
life, William H. Genteman, at the roller rink in Hatfield, and they were united
in marriage on April 9, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairview. They
farmed together in the town of Levis, Clark County, until moving to Loyal in
1967, where they farmed north of Loyal until retiring in 1986. They remained on
the farm until 1998, and then moved to the town of Weston, northwest of
Neillsville. After her husband’s death on March 3, 2004, Louise moved to Cedar
Rail Apartments in Marshfield, where she resided until 2016. She resided in
Marshfield until her death. She had many interests, but especially loved
spending time with her family (who came first above anything else), sewing,
crocheting, gardening, flowers, going to car shows with Bill, baking chocolate
chip cookies, the Loyal Corn Festival, the Packers, hosting family functions,
canning, her African violets, playing rummikub and bingo, and helping in the
kitchen when she resided at Cedar Rail.
Louise will be dearly missed by her children: David (Camille) Genteman of
Granton, Maryann (Ken) Piller of Marshfield, Dan Genteman of Marshfield, Patty
(Steve) Rindfleisch of Spencer, Jim (Grace) Genteman of Loyal, Betty (Mark)
Yerke of Arpin, and Wayne (Diane) Genteman of Greenwood; 25 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marie Kaiser of Loyal and Lorraine (Jeff)
Rayhorn of Long Prairie, Minn.; one son-in-law: Ken Wienke of Marshfield; one
sister-in-law: Donna Mayer of West Salem; and several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; one daughter: Sue
Wienke; one son in-law: Ron Denzine; one sister: Dorothy Laufenberg; and two
brothers: Norman and Tony Mayer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to St. Anthony
Catholic School.
