When the Clark Electric Co-op was organized (incidentally, this Co-op had its
birth in Willard), Martin Klarich and Wallace Landry, our county agent at the
time, were very instrumental in getting the co-op started. Its first name was
Willard Co-op, formed March 27 ,1936, then another Big-4 Co-op of Spencer,
formed March 30, 1936, and the Neillsville-Greenwood Co-op, formed April 1,
1937. All three became Clark Electric Co-op on June 26, 1937.
In October 1937 the first power went out on the lines. At this time there was a
need for electricians to wire all the farms and rural communities and Willard
was for¬tunate to have such people as John Zagozen, Joe Musich, Frank Artac, J.
F. Trunkel, Frank Peroshek and Frank Petkovsek. All these people were first
generation Americans from our pioneer settlers here. Many farms were wired up
even before the lines were built.
