Siebert, Barbara Eileen (4 February 1920 – 3 September 2020)

The family of Barbara E. Siebert is saddened to report her death on Thursday,
September 3, 2020 at age 100.
Barbara was born on February 4, 1920 to Walby and Carl Gerdes at Spokeville. She
attended Spokeville School and St. Anthony Grade School in Loyal, graduating
from Loyal High School in 1937. She then attended Central Teacher’s College in
Stevens Point, and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in 1941. While in
college, she was elected to Alpha Psi Omega, Sigma Zeta and was a member of
Omega Mc Chi Society. Barbara taught high school math and science in Bowler,
Berlin and Greenwood, She married Earle Siebert, whom she met while at college
at Stevens Point, on May 23, 1942 when he was stationed in the army at San
Antonio, Texas. After WWII, Barb and Earle returned to Wisconsin and moved to
Neillsville in 1950. She was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Neillsville. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing bridge.
Barbara is survived by her five children, Michael (Linda), SueAnn (Jim), Sandy,
Steve and Jon (Charlene) and is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earle and brother, John
“Bucky” Gerdes.
She was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by
family and friends. Her family would like to thank the staff at Riverside
Assisted Living for the wonderful care they gave their mother while there.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday,
September 12, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Celebrant
will be Fr. Eric Awortwe-Dadson. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the church.
