The North Mound Tavern was built by Frank and Frances Luzovec in 1949. It had a
grocery store adjacent. They operated this combination, along with a gas pump
and lived upstairs during this time until 1964 when they sold to Gladys Trost.
Later, Harvey Tuchalski ran the operation. Then came Charlie and Millie Herrick,
Vic Harder, Betty Kotcon, Helen and "Swede" Neuman, Bob Matkovich, Jim Oelhofen,
Edna Sondregger, and Bob Brom. Each had owned and operated the Tavern-Grocery at
short intervals. Jim Oelhofen and his wife built an addition of a basement
garage and above was additional space for dancing and tables. Brom sold to John
Kramer, who still owns it and it is operated by Kris and John Regalia. This
business is located about five miles northwest of Willard.
