Anton and Frances Klanchar started Tioga Tavern in 1945. They bought the
building known as the Tioga Cheese Factory from Rudy Volk. They operated the
business until 1949, then sold to Tony Celesnik who later sold to Tom Kreci and
wife Alice. They operated the business until Tom's death, then Alice operated
the bar until Anton and Dorothy Petkovsek purchased the business in 1963. They
operated the business for quite a few years and then sold to Ludwig and Alma
Hribar in 1974. Lud and Alma enlarged the tavern and changed the name to Tioga
Inn, for they added food, at most times the bar is open. They are the present
owners.
