Frank and Alice (Klanchar) Prebil bought a small house and lot, located just
south of the old cheese factory that at one time belonged to Gramma Lajkovic,
from the county, in 1935. They made a new house which included a bar in part of
it and living quarters in the rest of the building. They operated this bar until
1949, then sold it to Andrew Kaucnik. (Frank also had the Wadhams Gasoline
delivery route which he sold to John Snedic.)
Karl Metelka, from Marshfield purchased the tavern from Kaucnik and named it
White House Tavern. He operated it for some time, enlarged it and made a new bar
etc. Then sold it to Anne and Louis Silc of Cleveland, Ohio, after several years
he sold to Cletus Susa, from Eaton center area. Cletus ran the tavern for 14
years and then sold it to Marlene and Archie Hendrickson, they enlarged the bar
room and as of today they are still operating it.
Frank Hren started up a tavern in Tioga, about 1928, at least it had a bar. This
was a cabinet shop converted to a bar and also dances were sponsored. Then Glen
Hizor operated it about a year before it closed.
