Weiers, Joe (Resigning Ward 1 Alderperson – 8 September 2020)
Neillsville Council Says Goodbye to Pastor Serving as Ward 1 Alderperson.
Former Neillsville Ward 1 alderperson Joe Weiers accepts a plaque recognizing
dedicated service to the common council at the council’s Sept. 8 meeting. Weiers
resigned from the council because he is relocating out of Neillsville for work.

The Neillsville Common Council will continue on without an alderperson who has
served on the council for the past two years.
Joe Weiers, who is also the pastor at Hillside Community Church, is stepping
away from the Ward 1 seat as he is preparing to move out of the city.
“I still call him Pastor. Pastor Joe is going to another location due to a
recent change in employment and will result in relocating out of the area,”
Mayor Diane Murphy said.
Weiers and his family are moving to Brillion, which is along USH 10 in Calumet
County southeast of the Fox Cities. There, Weiers will be the pastor of the
Brillion Community Church.
Weiers started serving on the council in his most recent tenure in 2018, his
second time on the council. He had previously served on the council as its Ward
2 alderperson.
Weiers was appointed to the seat that was vacated by Chuck Glassbrenner when he
became interim mayor.
“It is with much regret that I offer my resignation,” wrote Weiers in his
resignation letter, adding words of appreciation to fellow councilmembers. “It
has been a pleasure working with you. To all those who I have served with on
various committees, it was a joy serving together.”
‘
Weiers added words of appreciation to the staff in the city clerk’s office.
“It has been an honor to served the city of Neillsville,” he wrote.
“We’ll miss you,” alderperson Dan Clough said.
Other alderpersons also shared their gratefulness for Weiers’ service.
“We’ll sadly accept,” said alderperson Joe Neville after Murphy requested a
motion to accept the resignation.
“I will sadly second,” Clough said.
Weiers received a plaque from the city for “dedicated service.”
The resignation was as of Sept. 8, the same date of the council meeting in which
it was accepted.
