Jingle, Richard Edward (19 September 1935 – 22 September 2000) With Flag
Richard E. Jingle, 65, of Merrillan, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at the
Veterans Administration medical Center in Madison.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1935, in Chicago, IL, to Walter and Rose Marie (Novak)
Jingle. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.
He was married to Delores “Dee” Marvin in 1959 and they were later divorced. He
worked at the Jackson County Iron Mine for 10 years. He also worked in
construction for Rollohome of Marshfield, at the Jackson Box Factory in Black
River Falls, as a mechanic and body man for Joel Bement Automotive of Black
River Falls, and as a custodian at Lincoln Elementary School in Merrillan. He
lived most of his life in Merrillan and was a past member of the Merrillan
Volunteer Fire Department and Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and
also woodworking.
Survivors include his former wife, Delores Jingle of Merrillan; one son Mark
Jingle; two daughters, Sandra (Allen) Forsting of Merrillan and Pam (Brian)
Chandler of Hixton; his mother, Rose Jingle of Merrillan; one brother, Walter
Jingle, Jr. of Merrillan; three sisters, Rose Marie Jingle of Round Lake, IL,
Darlene (Don) Ariel of Chicago, IL, and Peggy (LeRoy) Johnson of Countryside,
IL; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Jingle, Sr.
Funeral services for Richard E. Jingle were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Spt. 26,
at the United Methodist Church, Merrillan. The Rev. William Swan officiated, and
burial, with military rites, took place in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan. Friends
called on Monday evening at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hoxton and also
one hour prior to services at the church.
Casket bearers were Mark Passow, Scott Gearing, Jerry Zinn, Al Young, Jay Young
and LeRoy Johnson.
