Pasek, Helen (? 1919 – 9 August 1927)
Young girl killed accidentally.
Joseph Pasek, aged 10, accidentally shot and almost instantly killed his little
sister Helen, aged 8, at their home near Bruce Mound, last Tuesday evening about
supper time. The little boy either did not think the gun, a 22-rifle, was loaded
or thought he had it aimed above her head, when it went off. The bullet struck
her just below the hairline on the forehead. Dr. Lowe was instantly called, but
the child lived only a couple of hours.
The brother was so frightened at what he had done that he fled to the woods and
remained out all night until the next day about noon, when he came home. During
this time about 72 men and boys were out looking for him.
The funeral was held at the Immaculate Conception Church at Alma Center,
Thursday forenoon, and interment was made in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
The parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pasek and relatives have the sympathy of all
their friends in their sad bereavement. – Merrillan Leader.
