Wetzel, Meta M. (25 November 1906 – 14 January 1990)
Meta M. Wetzel, 83, of 216 Sunset Place, Neillsville, died at 5:33 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 14, at Neillsville Memorial Home, where she had been residing since Jan.
12.
Meta M. Wetzel, daughter of the late Frank and Matilda Reetz, was born Nov. 25,
1906 in Adlick Suchow, Germany and received her education there. She came to the
United States in August 1925 and settled in Neillsville, living here the rest of
her life and working in the home.
Her marriage to Emil W. Wetzel took place Oct. 17, 1930 in Winona, MN. He died
Jan. 11, 1973.
She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville.
Survivors include two sons, Walter E. and Raymond D. Wetzel, both of
Neillsville; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Roehl, Mrs. Kenneth (Karen) Mohr, and
Mrs. Leo (Florence) Wiesner, Jr. all of Neillsville; 21 grandchildren; and 10
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers,
three sisters, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Neillsville, with the Rev. Richard F. Weber officiating. Burial was made
in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
“What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” was sung by Janice Mayer, accompanied by
Sharon Nemitz.
Pallbearers were Eddie and Tim Tresemer, James Skroch, John Walk, Ronald Meihack
and Herb Nemitz.
