On December 31, 1919, the National Headquarters of the American Legion issued a
Charter for the organization of Loyal Post, Number 175, American Legion. The
charter members were Alfred K reiser, Percy F. Voight, Peter S. Beaver, B. A.
Leatherdale, Oscar J. Christenson, Frank X. Irlbeck, Chester Smith, R. C.
Whiteman, D. C. Miller, Lee Shupe, Lynn Catlin, Frank M. Christenson, Glenn
Shupe, Leo M. Meyer, H. A. Krueger, Elmer J. Etta, Oscar H. Etta, Arthur Etta,
August Woodkey, George Vogel, Otto Ehlert, Vincent Flaherty, Charles E. Kuckuck,
Dale Hawley, J. R. Thomas, William A. Beaver, Phillip Beaver, H. R. Jackson,
Phillip L. Smith, Thomas Wm. Murphy, Vernard O. Kauffman, Ray A. Kauffman, Lloyd
Smith, Archie N. Ferguson, Fred Dittner, and George A. Stringham.
On January 9, 1920, with twenty of the charter members present, an organization
meet¬ing was held in the Directors Room of the Loyal State Bank - now the Loyal
Post Office. At this pieeting the following officers were elected for the year
1920:
- Commander - Elmer J. Etta
- Vice Commander – Percy Voight
- Adjutant – Leo M. Meyer
- Finance Officer – Alfred Kreiser
- Historian – Frank Christenson
- Master-at-Arms – Oscar Etta
- Chaplain - Vincent Flaherty
