Zenz, Joseph, Jr (14 May 1891 - 13 July 1933)
LOYAL, July 14 -- Joseph Zenz, Jr., 42. committed suicide by poisoning at his
home half a mile west of Loyal yesterday., Death came at 4:30 p.m., while he was
being taken to St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield.
Zenz was found in the silo at his farm by his wife on her return from a berrying
expedition. He had taken carbolic acid and then gone into the silo. Mrs. Zenz
summoned aid and an attempt was made to rush the stricken man to a hospital but
he died enroute.
Zenz was in poor health and had been in a nervous condition for some time.
Sorrow over the death of a child who died by accidental poisoning a year ago is
also believed to have influenced him.
He was a graduate of the Loyal High School, class of 1910, and had spent most of
his life in this vicinity. He is survived by his wife and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Zenz, Sr., Loyal, and a sister, Mrs. Ed Kreiser, Loyal. Two sons and
a daughter, preceded him in death.
