Troyer, Richard L. (27 March 1951 – 8 October 2020)
Richard L. Troyer, 69 of Boyd, died Thursday, October 8, 2020 at home under the
care of St. Joseph’s Hospice, with his wife, Mary Jane, by his side.
Rick was born on March 27, 1951 in Stanley to the late Lawrence and Margaret
(Pinter) Troyer.
He grew up in Stanley and graduated from Stanley-Boyd in 1969. On June 15, 1974
he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Jaskot at St. Hedwig’s-St. Bernard’s
Catholic Church in Thorp.
Rick worked for the Falls Dairy Plant, now known ADM Stanley, as an Operator,
Plant Manager and Supervisor before he retired in August 2017. He also owned
Rick’s Carpet Service in the Stanley area for many years and was in Life
Insurance Sales. After retirement he worked part time at the Eau Claire Country
Club and Whispering Pines Golf Course in Cadott. He also began employment with
Great American Crop Insurance out of Eau Claire as a field agent. He thoroughly
enjoyed the outdoors - camping, hunting and fishing, but he especially loved
golfing and bowling with friends and family. He had so many fond memories of the
Coon Gut Hunting Camp near Augusta, which had been a family tradition since
1939, and then again at Eagle Ridge Lodge near Gilman, established in 2013. He
always looked forward to his annual ice fishing trip to Devil’s Lake, North
Dakota, as well as the biannual bear hunting trip with family and friends to
Ignace, Ontario. He was happy living in the Stanley-Boyd area, close to his
children and grandchildren. The joy of his life in recent years was loving and
spending time with all of his young grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Boyd, his son, Mike (Michelle) of
Stanley, his daughters, Melissa (Dean) Lew of Stanley and Megan (Nate) Bitney of
Cornell, six grandchildren, Kelly, Amanda, Aaron and Bailey Lew and Briella and
Elias Bitney, his brother, Tim (Karen) of Stanley and his sister, Linda (Cal)
Maule of Nekoosa.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Michelle, and his
brother, Billy Joe.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Holy
Family Catholic Church-Stanley with Father William Felix officiating. Burial
will follow in Holy Family Cemetery-Stanley. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on
Monday at the Plombon Funeral Home and Tuesday morning at the funeral home from
9 A.M. until departure to the church. Due to COVID-19 the family asks that all
wear a mask at all times if attending.
