Weideman, Robert “Bob” Herbert (21 June 1919 – 18 February 2020)
Robert “Bob” Herbert Weideman, age 100, of Abbotsford, died on February 18, 2020
at the Abbotsford Health Care Center.
Bob was born on June 21, 1919, to Herbert and Ottilie (Sauter) Weideman as the
third oldest and last surviving child of a family of eight. He was baptized on
October 12, 1919 at Christ Lutheran Church and attended Abbotsford Schools.
On July 10, 1943, Bob married Helen Gierl of Abbotsford. The couple farmed in
the Town of Hoard where he was active in the Farm Bureau and AMPI Boards. He
also was an area salesman for Brown Seed and Dairyland Seed Companies. His
happiest days and memories were driving his tractors, doing field work and
caring for his dairy herd until age 98, when he officially retired.
Bob is survived by his wife, Helen of 76 years; nine children: Karen (Robert)
Bakke of Abbotsford, Robert James (Janice) of Curtiss, Jane (George Borchardt)
Wisnefske Borchardt of Clintonville, Rita (William) Mueller, Wausau, Richard and
Robin (Julia) of Curtiss, Lois (Larry) Lawrence of McKinney, TX, Lana (Jeff)
Fitzmaurice of Neillsville and Ronald of Arlington, TX; 16 grandchildren: Danny,
Lori, Dennis, Debbie Bakke; Mary, Linda, Patty, Robert E., James, Joan Weideman;
Wade and Wyatt Wisnefske; Sarah and Matthew Mueller; Nathaniel and Emily
Lawrence; 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is
further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Robert and Laura Gierl;
granddaughter, Lisa Bakke; son-in-law, Leroy Wisnefske; sisters, Vivian (Virgil)
Ramker, Arlene, Mae (Norbert) Harder and Joyce; brothers, Arthur (Lydia), Harvey
(Marianne) and James; brother-in-law, Morris (Caroline) Gierl.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss (1131 N. Meridian St.). Rev. Ken Schmidt will
officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
service Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
handicap ramp project.
