As was recently announced in the Gleaner’s advertising columns, E.S. Donaldson
has sold his interest in the E.S. Donaldson & Company hardware business to his
partner, Edgar B. Carpenter, who has owned a alf interest in the store for the
past three years, having left the high school during the last of his third year
to assume duties in the store.
Edgar B. Carpenter is the son of Edgar H. and Eliza Carpenter, the father having
died in 1887. He was born in August 1880, making him nearly twenty-two years old
now, and the youngest businessman in Greenwood at the present time. He was born
near the city and is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Begley, who were among the
pioneers in this part of the county. He has always taken a deep interest in his
chosen work and has kept up a course of study by correspondence along lines
helpful to his business. He looks ahead with an ambitious pride in his business,
and is determined to maintain a hardware trade that shall be a credit to himself
and his town. With his grit, tact and genial manners and close attention to the
details of his business, it takes no prophet to predict success as a crown to
his efforts.
He are best wishes for Greenwood’s youngest businessman, Edgar B. Carpenter.
