Hamm, Arlan (13 DEC 1938 – 14 OCT 2020)
Arlan Hamm was called home to be with his Lord October 14, 2020, at Oakbrook
nursing home in Thorp.
Arlan was born Dec. 13, 1938, in the township of Mayville to Frank and Mildred
(Neitzel) Hamm. He attended Brady Grade School and Dorchester high school. He
went to heavy equipment school in Pennsylvania. He also attended Lay School of
Ministry of northwest Synod of WI.
Arlan was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran in Curtiss, he served as the
council president, Sunday School teacher, and confirmation leader for many
years. He also served as the village president, and the town of Hoard treasurer.
Arlan worked as a carpenter at Pathfinder Spencer and Liberty Homes of
Dorchester. Then he farmed west of Curtiss on Romadka Ave. until 1993. He also
drove delivery truck for Curtiss Metal Connection and Marge’s Flowers.
His passion was growing flowers, cooking and helping everyone out. He enjoyed
playing dartball with friends, playing cards with Aunt Hannah, and watching WWF
wrestling with his nephews Kris and Kenny. He loved eating popcorn and laughing.
Arlan is survived by a brother, Gary (June) Hamm of Curtiss; a sister, Donna
(Duane) Schmidt of Stanley; and many nieces and nephews: Sherry Looker and
family of Rochester, Minn., Julie Fink and family Rochester, Minn., Jeff (Lois)
Fischer and family of Colby, David (Reshell) Fischer of Jim Falls, Kristin
Schmidt and family of Abbotsford, Janet (Tony) Schmidt and family of Chippewa
Falls and Rev. Kenneth (Sarah) Schmidt and family of Stanley; and 16 great
nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Arlan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Klemke and
husband Larry.
A private service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Curtiss on October 24,
2020, at 11 a.m. Family and friends can watch the service live on the funeral
home’s Facebook page or after service anytime on Facebook or the website.
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date because of Covid.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Oakbrook Home for their care and love for Arlan
these past four years. Dementia is a tough disease to deal with.
