Yeager, Michael J. (1 April 1951 – 7 September 2020)
Michael J. Yeager, 69 of Stanley, passed away at his home on Monday, September
7, 2020 after a courageous battle with lung cancer under the care of St.
Joseph’s Hospice.
He was born on April 1, 1951 to the late Julius and Mary (Qualler) Yeager. Mike
grew up in the Stanley area and graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School in 1970.
He was especially proud of his many accomplishments in track & field as a state
champion high jumper. In the early 1970’s he became a loving father of his two
daughters, Kristie and Melissa. In the spring of 1992 Mike met Kimberly Haas and
the two married on June 25, 1994. He worked as a sheet metal fabricator for
Spectrum Industries in Chippewa Falls for 28 years. He proudly retired in April
of 2020.
Mike enjoyed Muskie fishing, hunting and spending time in the Northwoods with
Kim, his daughters and family & friends. He enjoyed fishing contests, whether it
be for a trophy, s’more or just bragging rights. He especially enjoyed beating
Kim at both fishing and cards. Mike spent many years hunting with his father and
brother Fran on their family property in the Chequamegon Forest. Mike loved
being a grandfather and supporting his grandchildren in all of their endeavors.
Mike was a good friend who was always there to lend a hand. He will be missed by
many. He is survived by his wife, Kim of Stanley, two daughters, Kristie (Dan)
Schallert of Madison and Melissa (Rick) Karcher of Mosinee, his grandchildren,
Devin Schallert and Seana, Sarah and Gavin Karcher, his brother, Francis
(Beverly) Yeager of Boyd, his sister, Marilyn DeMoully of St. Paul, his mother
in law, Nancy Haas of Stanley his in laws, Tami (Jim) Sayles of Medford, Alan
(Kathy) Haas of Stanley, Jane Wilczek of Thorp, Jim (Stacy) Haas of Stanley.
Numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, William DeMoully.
A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the
Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley. Visitation will be from 3 P.M. until time of
service Tuesday. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Holy Family
Catholic Cemetery-Stanley. The family asks that all in attendance wear a
facemask.
