Mrs. Alex Shanks was pleasantly surprised Monday evening, February 29, 1904, by her Sunday School class of seven girls, it being her fourteenth birthday, she being 57 years old. Mrs. Shanks birth being on the 29th, she has been deprived of three-fourths of the anniversaries. The girls presented their teacher with a beautiful little clock. Those of the class present were Philena Smith, Stella Masters, Gertie Clute, Hattie Ingle, Edna Burch, Edith Borseth and Edna Hurlbut.
