A gay and hilarious company of about forty people gathered at the Greenwood
House Saturday evening in response to the invitation of Mr. and Mrs. John Bryden
in honor of Miss Allie Schofield. The members of the party entertained
themselves at flinch and clinch and gave vent to their hilarity in dancing,
piano music being furnished by Mrs. R.L. Burton and Miss Mabel Bishop. Prizes
were son by the card players, the first booby prize of a rather hideous mug
going to Mr. Pierrelee, the second, a parrot head bank to Mrs. Russell, the
first card prized of a china pin tray to Mrs. F. M. Carter, the flinch prize, a
china basket for cut flowers, going to Mr. H. R. Schofield. Toward morning
opportunity was afforded for refreshments, at which the party took advantage in
no slow formal manner. Again there was card playing and dancing, the party
dispersing at about two o’clock.
Those present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Burton of Marshfield,
Mrs. A. Blumenstein of Loyal, Mrs. Russell of Black River Falls, Victor
Pierrelee of Ashland, and Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Armstrong, late of Seattle,
Washington, recently having returned to Greenwood.
