Greenwood, Wis., April 15, 1902
Pursuant to law, the common council of the city of Greenwood met at 1:30 p.m.
for the purpose of organizing and qualifying the city officers and committees
for the ensuring year.
The officers were present, and the city council organized as follows: Mayor – B.
F. Thompson; Supervisor – Oscar Fricke; Aldermen – John C. Drummond, George
Thompson, Frank Zetsche and Chris Kippenhan.
The following person were appointed: Dr. Julian C. Baker was appointed health
commissioner by the mayor, and unanimously confirmed by the common council. Wm.
Hogue was appointed as marshal by the mayor, and unanimously confirmed by the
council.
The following city committees were appointed by the Mayor:
- Auditing Committee – Oscar Fricke, Chairman; George Thompson and Frank Zetsche.
- City Attorney – R. F. Kountz.
- President of Council – John C. Drummond.
- Street and Bridges – Frank Zetsche, Chairman; George Thompson and Chris
Kippenhan.
- Street and Weed Commissioner – Wm. Hogue.
- Cemetery Committee – Oscar Fricke, Chairman; John C. Drummond, Chris
Kippenhan, and Wm. Hogue, Sexton.
- Committee on Claims – Oscar Fricke, Chairman; Frank Zetsche and George
Thompson.
- Water Works Committee – John C. Drummond, Chairman; Oscar Fricke and Chris
Kippenhan.
All of the above mention committees were unanimously confirmed by the common
council.
E.T. Pratt, having resigned his office as Justice of the Peace, his resignation
was accepted.
V.W. Chandler was appointed Justice of the Peace in place of E.T Pratt, who has
resigned, and the appointment was confirmed by the common council.
F. M. Carter and E.T. Pratt were appointed as constables by the mayor, and
confirmed by the common council.
Motion was made and carried, that the council proceedings be published in the
Greenwood Gleaner during the ensuring year.
Motion made and carried that the bid of Dr. J. L. Barber, for treatment of the
present Smallpox cas at $3.00 per day when he calls, if he makes no call, no
pay.
Motion was made to adjourn.
