Irene Peleschak was born on May 13, 1925, in Lublin, Wisconsin to Ambrose and Julia (Sweda) Peleschak. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Lublin Public School and Withee High School. Upon graduation, she worked at numerous jobs in Chicago, Illinois before returning to Lublin at age 19.

Irene met the "love of her life", Edward Jasinski, at Mile Away Ballroom in Thorp. They were married on February 10, 1945 in a civil union in Chicago. Ed was in the armed services at the time. On July 18, 1945, their marriage was blessed at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin. In December 1945, their beautiful daughter, June, joined the family. Their marriage lasted 70 years.

The young couple settled on a farm in Lublin where they lived and farmed for 50 years. During this time, Irene served as the Village of Lublin Treasurer and Assessor and on the Election Board. Irene was also the Postmaster in Lublin for 23 years. She was active in her church and led the choir for many years, receiving the coveted “Gramota” award for her dedication.

Irene enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, singing, and traveling. She especially loved polka dancing with Ed. One of her favorite memories was dancing with Ed at the Octoberfest in Germany. She will be remembered for constantly sharing jokes with friends and never forgetting the punch lines.

Irene is survived by two grandsons, Ion (Dyane) Revak of Jacksonville, FL, Nicholas Revak of Hobart, Indiana, three great-granddaughters, Sarah Revak of Yorkville, IL, Maegan Revak and Krista LeRoy of Jacksonville, FL, two sisters, Ella Handa of Aurora, IL and Katherine Piwoni of Thorp, plus nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
