Sanford Chase’s house burned last Thursday morning. It caught fire from a stove
pipe. They saved part of their bedding and furniture, but their clothing was
nearly all burned. John Murphy is circulating a paper to get aid for them. There
will be a supper in Brown’s Hall next Friday afternoon for the benefit of Mr.
Chase’s people, and the ladies will tie comfortables for them in the afternoon
and a benefit dance for them at night.
