Alger, Randy Richard (18 May 1954 - 5 November 2020)
Randy R. Alger, age 66, of Owen, formerly of Thorp, passed away at Clark County
Rehab & Living Center, in Owen, on Thursday, November 5, 2020.
Randy Richard Alger was born on May 18, 1954 at Victory Memorial Hospital, in
Stanley, the son of Richard L. and Rosella M. (Dulek) Alger. He was raised on
Dickerson Avenue, rural Thorp, where he learned how to farm and raise pigs.
Randy attended Thorp area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1972.
After completing his education, he got his first job at Larson's Feed Mill,
where his father also worked. Randy purchased the Leonard Mizerka farm on
Bachelors Avenue and continued working full-time at the feed mill in addition to
farming. He worked his way up from feed mill bagger to driving truck delivering
bagged feed, and then to bulk feed truck driver. While working at Larson's Feed
Mill, he was run over by a molasses trailer and received numerous injuries.
Seven years later, Randy was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, and battled
numerous health issues. He was united in marriage to Lori Fryza on October 25,
1986 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, and they were blessed
with four beautiful children. They later divorced. Randy later worked at the
Lublin Feed Mill until health issues forced him to retire.
He was a hard-working, responsible, financial provider, with a great memory for
life events. Randy always looked forward to Packer Sunday, and a superb home
cooked meal at his parents' home with his family.
Randy is survived by his children: Richard Alger of Stanley, David (Marina) of
Stanley, Lindsey Alger of Eau Claire and Michael (Grace) of Madison; one
grandson: Jeffery-David, and a second grandchild on the way; 8 siblings: Rita
Heiser of Beemer, NE, Ronald (Cindy) of Thorp, Renee (Allen) Marek of Thorp,
