The village was shocked Monday noon to hear that William Goerbing had committed
suicide by shooting himself with a Winchester rifle, the bullet entering the
left side just above the heart and came out of the shoulder. Death resulted
almost instantly; that it was premeditated is shown by the fact that Mr.
Goerbing came to town in the morning and paid some notes that were not yet due.
He leaves a wife, a father, two brothers and two sisters. He was forty years of
age.
