Eloranta, George Oswald (1 August 1924 – 16 November 2020)
George Oswald Eloranta, age 96, of Owen, passed away on Monday, November 16,
2020 at the Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield under the tender care of his
loving family, Stoney River staff and Heartland Hospice.
George was born August 1, 1924, the son of Jonas and Hilja (Korhonen) Eloranta
in Owen. He was united in marriage to the late Lola Jean Winter on October 29,
1949 in Granton. They were married for 57 years and raised seven children. They
started on a 40 acre dairy farm and worked together to make it into the business
their son’s and grandson operate today. George was a dedicated husband and
father. The many life lessons he taught to his family will be cherished forever.
George was actively involved in his community throughout his life. George
enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, visiting family and friends, and always
willing to give of his time for others.
George is survived by his seven children: Gary (Bev) Eloranta, Wayne (Joan)
Eloranta, Dennis Eloranta, Marlene (Ali) Nahavandi, Janet (Dick) Henning, Rita
(Tim) Kaine, and Sarah (Dalp) Kitlica; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren
and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Lola (2006), and two
brothers: Walter and Edwin Eloranta.
A private graveside service will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Riverside
Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Curtiss Alliance Church and
the Clark Co. Humane Society
