A new state bank, to be known as the Farmers’ and Merchants’ State Bank of
Greenwood, is now being promoted. Incorporation papers have been filed at
Madison, with C. H. Clute, Dr. H. R. Schofield, John Stanton, of this city,
Charles Cornelius of Neillsville, as others as incorporators.
Stock is now being solicited and it is an assured fact that the bank will be
opened for business sometime during the next summer. The erection the building
will commence as soon as things open up in the spring. It has not yet been
decided what particular lot or place the building will be located, but it is
reported that it will be placed somewhere south of the post office.
However, we understand that it will be a fine modern building, and will no doubt
be a credit in the city.
