Bio: Olson, Anders G. & Kristina - Early Spencer Area Farm (1880)

Anders Gustaf Olson and his wife, Kristina, came from Karlskoge, Warmland, Sweden, to Curtiss, Wisconsin in 1880. Two months later they came here and homesteaded a tract of land north of Spencer, to the east along Highway 13 in the Romeo area, now in the Town of Brighton. The farm was later acquired by his sons, Carl and August Anderson. Following the custom of Sweden, the sons upon coming of age, added “son” to their father’s given name, which then became their new surname. In this instance, the surname Olson was changed to Anderson.

August did not marry, and Victor Anderson, Carl’s only son, inherited the farm. Victor, who is now a widower, still resides on the farm with his son, Robert and wife. The total acreage is 532 acres. The fields are cash cropped. His son, Robert, is living in the area and is employed at the Anderson Mill on Highway 153.
