In 1889 Edward and Mary Jane Burnett and their two children moved here from
Campbellsport, Wisconsin. For the sum of $250.00 they purchased 40 acres of
woods from Francis Parrett located northwest of Spencer in the Town of Unity
(Clark Co.). Their youngest son, Ben, operated the farm from 1923 until the time
of his death in 1970. The farm, which now totals 240 acres, is owned by his son,
Rue, and his mother still resides in the farmhouse which was erected in 1899.
Fields are rented or cash cropped.
