Schwarze, Richard “Dick” (8 FEB 1908 – 31 JUL 1994)

NewCastle, Wyoming – Richard L. “Dick” Schwarze, 86, Newcastle, died Sunday, July 31, 1994, at Weston Manor Nursing Home in Newcastle.

He was born February 9, 1908 in Greenwood, Wisconsin, the son of George & Frieda (Kuhlman) Schwarze. He was raised and attended school in Wisconsin, graduating Valedictorian of his high school class. He attended the University of Wisconsin for two years, working toward a medical degree. At the age of 23, he moved to Wyoming and worked on the Engle Ranch for five years. Dick was later employed by Sioux Refinery. He retired in 1973, at the age of 65, and began working odd jobs until his second retirement at the age of 77.

He married Loreen Morgan on June 27, 1934. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June.

He was a member of Newcastle Masonic Lodge 13 AF&AM.

Survivors include his wife, Loreen Schwarze, Newcastle; two daughters, Shirley Berquist, Newcastle, and June Gorsuch, Rapid City, S.D.; one brother, Orlin Schwarze, Greenwood; 16 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Worden Funeral Chapel, Newcastle.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Worden Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Threewit officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle.

A memorial has been established to the cancer fund. Contributions may be sent to Loreen Schwarze, 111 W. Woodstock, Newcastle, Wyoming, 83701.
