Schwarze, George & Frieda (Golden – 26 DEC 1951)
Greenwood – Mr. and Mrs. George Schwarze, Greenwood, observed their golden
wedding anniversary at their home Wednesday, December 26, 1951 by holding open
house from 1 to 5 p.m.
A wedding cake decorated with an arch of gold, leaves, and bells, and with the
gold numeral “50” in the center, formed the centerpiece at the table. During the
afternoon pictures were taken.
Mrs. Schwarze, the former Frieda Kuhlman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Kuhlman, was born May 22, 1883 in Brillion, Wisconsin. She is also a former
resident of Neillsville.
Mr. Schwarze, a resident of Greenwood his entire life, was born here April 18,
1877, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schwarze. The two were married on
December 26, 1901. Attendants at the wedding were her sister, Bertha Kuhlman,
now Mrs. Swoverland, who was present at the celebration, and his brother, Albert
Schwarze, no deceased.
The Schwarzes, who are members of the West Side Evangelical and Reformed Church,
have resided in Greenwood since their marriage, where they operated a farm until
they retired and moved into the city.
They have five children, Richard, New Castle, Wyoming; and Miss Eleanor
Schwarze, Highland Park, Illinois; who were not able to be present, and three
sons, Harvey, Owen, and Ewald and Orlin, Greenwood, who with their wives, were
present at the celebration.
Their nine grandchildren, who were present, included Mrs. Beatrice Schwarze,
Nielsen, Donald, Eileen, Stanley, Ardith, Lila, Lynn, Marion, and Vern Schwarze,
all of Greenwood. Their only great-grandchildren, Harlan Nielsen, was also
present.
Other guests there included Mrs. Caroline Chanley, Indianapolis, Indiana; Mrs.
Christina Leonard, Ladysmith; Mrs. Bertha Swwoverland and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
Lentz, Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Loberg and family and Mrs. Art Diercks,
Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Don Kier, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leonard,
Gilman; Mrs. Agnes Schwarze and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ernest, Weyauwega; Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Dusso, Loyal; and many relatives and friends from Greenwood and
vicinity.
The honored couple received a number of gifts, a purse of money, bouquets of
flowers, and congratulatory messages.
