Franz, Oscar A. (5 OCT 1909 – 22 DEC 1978)
Oscar Adolph Franz, 69, Land O’ Lakes and a former Greenwood resident, died in a
hospital early December 22, `978 of an apparent heart attack.
Franz, son of Henry and Augusta (Decker) Franz, was born October 5, 1909 in the
Town of Warner.
He was a cheesemaker, farmed in the Town of Warner, and operated a
slaughterhouse, becoming known as a sausage maker.
Franz received his education in the Decker School. He was married in October
1936 to Ella Miller in Greenwood. They moved from here about 10 years ago to
Land O’Lakes, where he worked in a resort until he retired four years ago.
Surviving him are his wife; two sons and one daughter, Floyd and Ronald Franz,
both of Land O’ Lakes, and Mrs. Herman (Violet) Metzke of Greenwood; one
grandson; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Laube of Owen, Mrs. Selma Churkey of Owen,
Mrs. Martha Schwarze, Mrs. Mike Bolf and Mrs. Harold (Arvilla) Horn, all of
Greenwood; and one brother, Leondo Franz, Wisconsin Rapids.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Emil and Edwin Franz.
Funeral services were held December 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Land O’ Lake Bible
Church. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
