Daines, Linda (1925? – 5 Jan 2021)

Linda Osowski Daines died in Milwaukee on January 5, 2021, at the age of 95.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 73 years, Thomas H. Daines.

Also surviving are her three children, Jeffrey, Audrey and Brian and her grandchildren David, Michael, Julia and Douglas. She is further survived by her brother Joseph and sisters Rosalie and Pauline as well as her good friend Gretta. Numerous extended family members and other friends also survive her.

Linda was born and grew up in Thorp. After graduating as the Valedictorian of the Thorp High School class of 1943, she ventured off to Chicago where she worked in the WW II effort until marrying Tom, a high school beau. They settled down to raise a family. She was a tireless mother, always involved and supportive of her children's activities; she attended countless performances, concerts and events, and led cub scout dens and brownie and girl scout troops, too. As her children got older her interests expanded to supporting and volunteering at Planned Parenthood and doing genealogical research.

Before the age of computer research engines she traced family histories back multiple generations. She b involved in the Mayflower Society and for years volunteered to dress in Pilgrim inspired clothing and go' into elementary schools to tell students about the Pilgrims'1 history. She also volunteered for many years writing and sending special Birthday Wishes to young members of the Society.

Linda was also a lifetime cat lover and her family from never without at least one pet cat. She was particularly concerned about neglected and abandoned cats and often fostered “stray” cats and rehabilitated and often permanently adopted them.

Everyone who was lucky enough to know her will miss Linda profoundly. Her family hopes to be able to organize a memorial service when we can gather safely. For now, we invite you to donate (or volunteer) in Linda's name to one of her favorite charities supporting animals, Happy Endings: A No Kill Cat Shelter, 5349 W. Forest Home Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53220, 414-744-3287, https://happyendings.us/ .
