Klauer, Hugo W. (20 September 1890 – 2 September 1976) With Flag

For many years, a farmer in the Town of Seif, and a former town board member there, Hugo W. Klauer, 85, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, died Thursday, September 2, in Neillsville following a brief illness. Services held Monday from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, with the Rev. Ralph Stuebs officiating, were followed by burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

Hugo Klauer, son of Peter and Amelia Marten Klauer, was born September 20, 1890, in the Helenville area and was educated in schools there. He was in military service during WWI, serving overseas in Germany.

Mr. Klauer was married to the former Marie Doebler on December 25, 1919, at Helenville. Following their marriage, the couple moved to the Town of Seif where Mr. Klauer farmed during his lifetime. He served as a member of the Seif town board for many years. Mr. Klauer was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and of Haugen-Richmond American legion Post No. 73.


Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. Leo (Gertrude) Henchen, Neillsville; one brother, Arthur Klauer, Helenville; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


Pallbearers were Vern Peterson, Walter Miedziak, Carl Eslinger, Hans Kalsow, Martin Kalsow and Gale Lonning.
The Congregation sang “Nearer My God to Thee,” “Rock of Ages” and “I’m But a Stranger Here.” Mrs. Karen Hoppa was the organist.
