O’Reilly, Thomas J. (24 August 1893 – 8 November 1976) With Flag

Funeral services were held Friday from St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, for Thomas J. O’Reilly, 83, of Marshfield, who died Monday, November 8, at the convalescent center there. The Rev. George C. Passehl officiated. Burial, with military rites, was in St. Mary’s cemetery in Neillsville. A St. John’s parish vigil service was held Thursday evening at the Rembs-Kundinger chapel, where the body of Mr. O’Reilly was in state.

Born August 24, 1893, in New London, he received his education there and later moved to Granton with his parents. Mr. O’Reilly entered military service during World War I and participated in the Victory March of Paris and New York with the 33rd Division.

Later, he worked as an engineer with the Soo Line Railroad in Minneapolis, Mn., for 40 years, retiring in 1963. He came to Marshfield in 1967 and had resided at the convalescent home since October of 1975, having been in ill health the past 9 years.

Mr. O’Reilly, a charter member of the American Legion and VFW posts at Minneapolis, was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and of its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are two sisters, Miss Florence O’Reilly of Marshfield and Mrs. Mary Yankee of Neillsville, and two brothers, Basil of Rt. 4 Marshfield, and Francis of Mequon.
