Short, Ralph L. (5 July 1888 – 7 November 1976)

A lifelong resident of the Shortville area in the Town of Washburn, Ralph L. Short, 88, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, died Sunday November 7, in Neillsville following a lingering illness. Services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Ralph Short, son of Andrew and Jane Kennedy Short, was born on July 5, 1888, in the Town of Washburn and attended the Shortville school there. His marriage to the former Edith Kegley took place March 26, 1919 in the Town of Washburn.

Mr. Short farmed in the town of Washburn and was active as an insurance agent there for many years. He served as clerk of the Town of Washburn for 26 years, and as Town Chairman for four years. For 10 years, he was vice-chairman of the County A.S.C. He also served as secretary of the Shortville Cheese Factory and as a member of the Shortville school board for many years.

Mr. Short was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. Don (Doreen) Stewart of Madison; one sister, Mrs. Walter (Mae) Bell of Janesville; and three grandchildren.

Short, Ralph L. (5 July 1888 – 7 November 1976)

Funeral services were held November 10 from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Ralph l. Short, 88, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, who died November 7 in Neillsville. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiated, and burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clarence Reinart, John Reinart, Bill Rizner, Merle Austin, Claud Kyle and Charles Havlicek.

Mrs. May Peters sang “Beyond The Sunset” and “How Great Thou Art.” Mrs. Beulah Zoutendam was the accompanist.
