Guell, Corwin C. (? - 19 December1976) With Flag
A retired Thorp attorney former Clark County Assemblyman, Corwin C. Guell, 66,
Thorp, succumbed to an apparent heart attack December 19 aboard a Jamaica-bound
cruise. He and his wife were on a vacation cruise when he was stricken.
A native of Fond du Lac, Mr. Guell received his law degree from the University
of Wisconsin in 1934 and moved to Thorp in that year. During WWII he spent 30
months on active duty in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He retired from the active
practice of law in 1971.
Mr. Guell was an employee of Thorp Finance Corp. and of its subsidiary
corporations.
Active in community, church and civic affairs, Mr. Guell was a member of the
Thorp school board at the time of his death. He also took an active role in
Clark County Republican party affairs for several years.
Among survivors are his wife and three children.
The body was to be cremated at Miami, Fl.

Corwin C. Guell, 66, Thorp, a former Thorp attorney and Clark County
Assemblyman, died Sunday afternoon of an apparent heart attack while on a cruise
ship enroute to Jamaica. He and his wife were on a vacation cruise when he
suffered the fatal attack.
The body will be cremated at Miami, Florida.
Mr. Guell was born at Fond du Lac and received his elementary education in that
city.. He graduated from North Central College at Naperville, Ill. in 1931 with
a BA degree, and received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in
1934.
He came to Thorp in June 1934, and except for the 30 months that he spent on
active duty in the U.S. Navel Reserve as a lieutenant during World War II, he
had been actively engaged in the practice f law in the City of Thorp until
retiring in 1971.
He was an employee of Thorp Finance Corp., and also for its various subsidiary
corporations.
In 1956, he was elected as assemblyman and represented Clark Curing during the
1957 session of the legislature.
At the time of his death, he was a member of the Thorp School Board, was active
in community and civic affairs and took an active part in the Methodist Church.
He also was active in the Clark County Republican Party for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife and three children.
