Lowe, George H. “Tubby” (30 June 1893 – 2 December 1976)

A licensed funeral director and embalmer in Wisconsin for over 60 years, George H. “Tubby” Lowe, 83, of Neillsville, was pronounced dead on arrival Thursday, December 2, at Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Sunday from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Nordin of Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

George Lowe, son of Joseph B. and Mary Raas Lowe, was born June 30,1893, in Neillsville and was educated in local schools, graduating from Neillsville High School. He attended Mortuary Science School in Milwaukee and worked in many parts of the state during his years as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. His death occurred suddenly following a three-year illness.

Mr. Lowe was married to the former Josephine Gunn on January 18, 1958, in Iowa. She survives, as do two sons, William F. Lowe of Waukesha and Richard N. Lowe of Olathe, Ka.; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Runkel of Waukesha; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

“How Great Thou Art” was sung at the service. Mrs. Mary Heineck was the organist.

Jeff Lowe, Pope AFB, N.C.; Mrs. Marie Lowe, Wisegarber, Manhattan, Ka.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Shaw, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. James Gunn, Amery; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Nordlund, North Oak, Mn.; Miss Patricia Cich and Raymond and Patrick, Forest Lake, Mn; Mrs. Sally Timmers, Afton, Mn.; Mr. and Mrs. James Gunn, Jr., Mrs. Theresa Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Anderson, St. Paul, Mn.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard McNamara, Rosemount, Mn.; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gordenier, Noel and Danielle, River Falls, Mn.
