Haavisto, Albert O. (17 September 1907 - 5 February 1983)
OWEN - Services for Albert O. Haavisto, of 643 E Sixth St., Owen, who died
Saturday at his home, will be Wednesday at St. Katherine's Episcopal Church,
Owen. The Rev. E. N. Stillings will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Withee. Visitation will be at the Maurina Funeral Home, Owen.
He was born September 17, 1907, in Ely, Minnesota, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John
(Hilja Saarenoja) Haavisto. He and Ruby Catherine Marco were married September
18, 1942, in Minneapolis. He operated a tavern at Atwood and also operated a
tavern at Atwood and also operated carnival concessions for several amusement
companies. For the past 10 years, he worked at the Owen Sanitary Landfill.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Van-Huizen-Fritz American
Legion Post 123, Owen.
Surviving are his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Simon of Owen and Mrs. Laura
Hasek of La Mesa, California; and a half-sister, Mrs. Alma Roberts of Madison.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, a sister, two half-brothers and
a half-sister.
