Strey, Elmer W. (7 June 1897 - 28 February 1983)
Elmer W. Sterr, 85, of 212 S. Adams Ave., Formerly of Loyal died Monday, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he was admitted Sunday. He had been a
patient at the Colonial House of Colby since January 15, 1982.
Services will be held Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Pastor Joseph
Knary and Pastor T. P. Bradtke will officiate. Burial will be in Loyal Lutheran
Cemetery. Soloists will be Mrs. Erwin Dux and Mrs. Verland Dux. Burial will be
in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Cross, Kenneth Albrecht, Russell Reynolds, Louis
Gerhard, Wallace Szymanski and Harold Dahl.
Visitation at Hansen Funeral Home, 200 W. Third St., Marshfield.
He was born June 7, 1897, at LeRoy, a son of the late Albert and (Mina Franke)
Sterr. He received his education in Lomira schools.
He married Dorothea Kletti on Jan. 25, 1920, at Waukegan, Illinois. They made
their residence in Lomira until 1926. They then moved to Loyal where they owned
and operated
the Loyal Canning Co. at Loyal, Clark County, until 1976. They moved to
Marshfield in 1974.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Marshfield Elks Lodge No. 665.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Will of Marshfield; five grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Roman and Al Sterr, both of Lomira, and
Lloyd Sterr of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife on June 1, 1980, a son, daughter and two
brothers.
