Brandt, John C. (25 September 1893 - 22 February 1983)
NEILLSVILLE -- Services were Thursday at Seefeld Funeral Chapel, Oshkosh, for
John C. Brandt, 89, of Oshkosh, a former mayor and city Clerk of Neillsville. He
died February 22 in Park View Health Center, Winnebago.
He was born September 25, 1893, in Stanton, Nebraska, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Herman (Wilhelmina) Brandt. He married Meta I. Wilson June 28, 1969, in Oshkosh.
A veteran of World War I, Brandt was the mayor of Neillsville from 1962-69, and
for several years previous he had served as city clerk. He had operated the IGA
Food Store in Neillsville. He was a member and past commander of the Neillsville
American Legion post; a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Neillsville; and a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Otto (Marion) Schenk of New Ulm,
Minnesota; two step-daughters, Audrey Schmidt Wilson and Mrs. Clifford (Mildred)
Nigl, both of Oshkosh; two brothers, Paul of Pittsburg and Rev. Frederick Brandt
of Appleton; one sister, Ida Nehls of Neillsville; five grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchild. He was
predeceased by his first wife.
